How to protect ride-on lawn mowers against theft

“They’ll steal anything these days”, that’s what we say when the slightest of items are pilfered.  For example: ballpoint pens, newspapers, deodorant, or biscuits.  Some people might assume that lawn mowers can be replaced as easily as a vacuum cleaner or a ballpoint pen.  With ride-on lawn mowers, this is far from the truth.

Choosing a ride-on lawn mower demands continued personal research.  Take our website: we offer a wide range of ride-on lawn mowers and repair services.  But a sit-on lawnmower isn’t the kind of thing you would pick up from a retail park.  There’s absolutely no chance of finding one for less than a thousand pounds, so it is best to keep your sit-on mower safe from potential thieves.

A shed may be a good idea.

For a reasonable price, your ride-on lawnmower wouldn’t be in full view of potential intruders.  For easy maintenance, we prefer metal sheds over wooden sheds.  If you’re fortunate enough to have a brick shed (suitable for ride-on lawn mowers), make good use of that.  There are two noteworthy makers of metal sheds in the UK: Asgard and Trimetal.  Some are suitable for storing your sit-on lawnmower with wide doors.

Asgard offer two sheds that are suitable for tractor-style lawn mowers (like the ones we deal with).  Both of which are police-approved due to their build quality and security.  The Ride-On Mower Storage shed is 5 feet by 7 feet and 3 inches, and priced at £1,048 including VAT and delivery.  Their second shed – the Large Tractor Mower Storage Shed – is priced at £1,258 and measures 5 feet by 10 feet and 9 inches.

Another manufacturer, Trimetals, offers two metal sheds under the Titan name. Their top-of-the-range shed, designed for ride-on lawn mowers, is priced at £1,589.  The Titan 940, 950, and 960 sheds (starting from £929) offers the same creature comforts.  All of Trimetals’ sheds come with a 25-year guarantee, are fire and rust proof, and come with a number of extras available at a modest price.
Why do we prefer metal sheds?  The most obvious thing is, they are fireproof. Today’s sheds offer unrivalled security with secure locking systems. They are robust and maintenance free.
